Brilliant Diamonds - 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed!
21 Day Inspection Period & Full Refund Policy on Diamonds*
35% Restocking Fee & Restoration Costs for Jewelry Items
which have had been sized, set or altered*
If this is the first time you've purchased a diamond
from us on the internet, we realize that you may be apprehensive about
sending money through cyber space for something you haven't seen...
If you're not concerned about spending this kind of money via the internet, there is really something wrong with you...
The good news is that we've been in the diamond business since 1979 and
we've been selling diamonds on the internet since 1997. Our
reputation within the trade and amongst the various agencies which monitor
our transactions on the internet has been excellent, however we recommend
reviewing our Customer Satisfaction Rating on
The Public Eye and
The
Better Business Bureau and contacting
The Jewelers Vigilance
Committee prior to purchasing a diamond simply for your own peace of
mind... In fact, you should do this regardless of whether you are
purchasing a diamond from us or the jeweler in your local area. If
you happen to be extremely paranoid, uh, we actually intended to say
careful, you can visit these web sites independent of our links and
conduct a search for our company name "Nice Ice, Inc." dba "Treasures by
R.J." which is the name of our original company.
Our goal is to ensure that your purchase is a
pleasurable experience. Buying your diamond should be easy,
enjoyable and stress free. Therefore, to ensure your complete satisfaction, you will
have twenty one (21) days from the time you sign for receipt
of the package to examine your order and decide that you want to keep it. If your new diamond and/or jewelry item does not meet your
expectations for "any reason" simply return it to our office for a full refund or
exchange.* What do we mean by "any reason"? Well let's say
that you receive our package, open the box, and you absolutely love the
diamond... Everything checks out with the Gemologist... You
present it to your fiancé and she is screaming with ecstasy... But
her cat takes one look at it and bristles and your dog is snarling and you
begin to think that all of this might be due to the diamond and not your
new cologne, well... That's "any reason". But if
the demeanor of your pets doesn't improve after you return the diamond, feel free
to call us back and buy the diamond again. We're easy.
For your protection and peace of mind, we recommend that you take the
diamond you purchase to an independent GIA Graduate Gemologist or AGS Certified Gemologist Appraiser for
confirmation of the diamond's characteristics in comparison with those
noted on the diamond grading report. Our use of the term
"independent appraiser" refers to a gemologist who does not sell diamonds
or jewelry and who is not employed or affiliated with a jewelry store
because they are more likely to be impartial in their assessment of the
item. We have compiled a list of
Independent Appraisers to assist you with finding one in your area.
Please refer to our Trade-in & Consignment
Policy in the event that you want to Trade-in, Exchange or have us
Consign any item which you have purchased from us after the twenty one day
inspection period has ended.
* Exceptions & Restrictions:
The first thing we'd like you to notice
about the "Exceptions & Restrictions" section of our return policy is that
it is written in the same size type we used to write the rest of the
site... No small print here... We're not trying to hide any of
the terms and conditions in an ocean of small print which is too vast to
read or hidden in an area that you'll never find... Everything you
need to know is right here out in the open and the "concept" of each
restriction or exception has been highlighted in red type so that the
concept is clear from the start. The Exceptions & Restrictions to our 100%
Refund Policy are the direct result of an extremely small group of people and an
occasional competitor who have chosen to abuse our good nature by playing
with our inventory and then deciding to return it on the very last day of
the inspection period in an abused, worn and disheveled state which made
it clear to us that some people simply don't deserve to play with our
puppies... Hence, the "Exceptions & Restrictions"
section of our 100% Refund
Policy. Please note that we are the self appointed Judge and Jury for each case and
our Black Cat "Voodoo" is the Executioner (yea, that is her real name...
it had to be something interesting because she adopted us the day before
Halloween after haunting our doorstep for several weeks)... Thus, we have the power
to override any of the exceptions and restrictions written here at our
sole discretion. We consider each situation to be unique in nature
and have written the Exceptions & Restrictions in their harshest entirety
to protect ourselves from the few who choose to abuse our good nature...
So as you read this, ask yourself "Am I a blup-blup-blup game playing
@#!** idiotic user and abuser who is trying to use and destroy everything for
free?" We didn't think so... So now that we know this isn't
you, read this "lightly" and know that it is just for the criminally
insane or the few people who are striving to be...
Shipping, Handling and Insurance Charges
are not refundable for any reason. Return shipping and insurance are
the responsibility of the purchaser. Please note that Fed Ex and UPS
do not insure jewelry items, we insure our packages with Fed Ex using a
special insurance binder for each package. For this reason, we recommend returning
items via U.S. Registered & Insured Mail after obtaining a Return
Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number by calling our office. If you
prefer to return the item via Federal Express, we recommend contacting our
office for return labels and the cost of return shipping will be deducted
from your refund. The round-trip cost of having a diamond shipped to
an independent appraiser for evaluation is not refundable for any reason
because we have provided a service and incurred a non-refundable expense
at your request and for your benefit.
Custom Order Jewelry Items and Custom
Altered Items are not refundable for any reason. For this reason we
recommend having any custom work performed by a local jeweler where you
can oversee the work while it is in progress. If we order a jewelry
item which is [1] not part of our regular stock inventory; [2] made
specifically to fit the diamond you are purchasing or already own; [3]
made or altered to your specifications and special needs; [4] a special
order designer item; it is not refundable. All sales for items
covered within this paragraph are final. The bottom line is know
that you want it and like it before you order it or have it altered to
your specifications. If you're not sure whether you like a certain
designer ring which has to be made specifically for the diamond you are
buying, we suggest that you purchase the diamond loose and make an attempt
to see an example of the designer ring in-person prior to ordering the
item because it is non-refundable for you and for us. We're not here
to custom carve waxes and produce custom jewelry items just so that you
can see what they look like... Because you've always wondered what
something like that might look like... Or because you wanted to
recreate Frankenstein on your CAD program and see whether your creation is
viable in the real world... In other words, if you ask us to create
something that only a blind monkey can love, not only are you going to pay
for it, but you're going to keep it.. Custom labor is extremely
expensive, if you want to experiment be prepared for the $$$ Pain.
Restoration & Reversal Fees: any merchandise which has been
set, sized or altered by our staff is subject to a Restoration Fee based
upon the work performed. Allowing a jeweler outside of our employ
may void this option entirely. To begin with, let's be
clear... This section does not apply to diamonds which are covered by
our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee as outlined above... Restoration fees
only apply to jewelry items in which we have set a diamond, sized to your specifications, or altered to your
specific needs. Restoration fees do not apply to jewelry items
that have not been altered. If you buy a diamond and a setting
from us and we send the setting out to you without mounting the diamond
so that you can "see what it looks like" and you want to return the
setting (which is not custom ordered as outlined above) then there
is not a restoration fee. If you buy a diamond and a setting from
us and we set the diamond in the ring and size it up, down or sideways,
then a restoration fee applies. Simple enough.
Okay, so the concept is "simple enough" but a lot of people don't seem
to get this so we feel the need to elaborate beyond what some people
will consider to be reasonable... Remember, all of "this" is
written for the few who don't get it. When it comes to setting
diamonds and working on jewelry, there is a "right way" and the "fast
and cheap way"... We are partial to the right way. The right
way is not an inexpensive proposition, but it is what our clients expect
in terms of quality. While we include the cost of setting one of
our diamonds in a setting purchased from us, the cost of setting is by
no means "free" it is rather overlooked as a cost of doing business.
However, the expense is very real and will be accounted for in the event
that we burn our labor and material setting a diamond into a ring at
your request. If we drill it, you pay for it. As an example,
the labor cost incurred for setting a one carat diamond properly in a
six prong platinum head is $128.00 based upon "express service" rates
which is considered to be same day or next day service which is what we
provide because the fact of the matter is that nobody wants to wait a
week to have a diamond set in a six prong solitaire after wiring their
hard earned cash into cyberspace. The cost to remove the same
diamond from the setting is $15.00 and the head becomes "scrap" because
we can't set another diamond securely in a used head... The cost
of parts and labor to replace the six prong platinum head in the ring is
$208.00 which is not based upon "express service" because there is no
rush to replace the head. Platinum is a precious metal however and
it costs more per unit to change out heads in our store than it does to
have the units assembled at the parts company where the units are
sourced from initially just as it costs more to add an after market
option to an automobile at a dealership as opposed to having it
installed at the factory at the time the vehicle is ordered. Based
upon an initial price of $455.00 for a platinum solitaire (example only,
subject to change without notice - see our platinum solitaire page for
specific and up to date pricing) the restoration charges thus far are
$128.00 for the initial setting of the stone and $15.00 for the removal
of the stone and $208.00 for replacement of the platinum prongs
resulting in a credit of $104.00 but wait, we haven't talked about
sizing yet... One size up for a platinum solitaire is $171.00
based upon "express service" and $113.00 for one size down with each
additional size up or down costing $44.00 with most of our stock rings
starting out as a 6.0 or a 6.5 depending on the source manufacturer.
The actual cost of restoration will vary depending on the specifics of
each ring and what labor is incurred in the initial preparation and
restoration of the ring, but hopefully this example serves to
demonstrate how we can both end up going backwards pretty fast by not
getting things right, so let's be sure that you really like a ring
before we cut it up for you shall we?
If you are not "absolutely certain" about the
ring style and alloy type preferred by your fiancé, we recommend
purchasing the diamond and ring unset so that you may return the ring for
a full refund if you do not like it for any reason... The cost of
shipping is usually minimal in comparison to the initial cost of
preparation and restoration. We will be happy
to set the diamond in the ring after you have had the diamond verified and
decided you are keeping it or the Gemologist who verifies the diamond for
you might know a trade jeweler who can set the diamond and size the ring
for you. Note that if by chance we make a mistake in processing your
order and ship the wrong item or size it to the wrong ring size that we
will replace or correct the size at our expense... If we blow it, we
pay for it... If you blow it, you pay for it. Simple enough,
right?
Semantics and detailed communication can be the key to avoiding
disappointment and restoration charges... Please... Please...
Please... Take a moment to be aware of the difference between the
various "solitaire" and "Tiffany solitaire" style rings that we offer...
A traditional solitaire has a different ring profile and head
configuration than a knife edge solitaire which is why they are
significantly different in price. If you order a platinum knife
edge solitaire instead of an 18k yellow gold traditional solitaire with
a four prong platinum head or vice versa then the restoration charges
outlined above are applicable.
Note that we will not be held responsible for specifics that are not
outlined in writing and for this reason we suggest defining the
specifics of your order in the written form of
email or
fax. The "item description" outlined on both our wire
transfer instructions and credit card authorization form specify the
details of your order as we understand them to be. Please read the
description and make any corrections that are deemed to be necessary.
We will not be liable for any mistakes made due to verbal
miscommunication.
Any unauthorized work by a jeweler outside of our direct or third party
employment may void our warranty entirely or create additional
restoration charges. Be aware that restoration costs can escalate
dramatically in the event that you allow a jeweler outside of our direct
or third party employment to conduct any repairs, sizing or alteration,
on a jewelry item purchased from our company depending on their skill
level or lack of skill as may be appropriate. For example, if they
use a torch to size a ring which requires the use of solder then normal
sizing charges as outlined above may not be applicable because we will
consider the entire ring shank to be "scrap" because we use a laser
welder when sizing which does not require that any foreign metal be
added to the ring shank. Use of improper solder or alloy type
during restoration or repair processes by another jeweler may result in
rejection of the return or substantial charges for removal and/or
replacement of the affected parts at our sole discretion. For this
reason, we strongly recommend allowing us to work on our work.
A short time ago, one of our customers ordered a wedding band from us a
half size smaller than he actually wears... We could have
exchanged it with the original manufacturer if allowed the opportunity,
but instead the customer took it to a local jeweler for sizing.
The jeweler attempted to stretch the ring up a half size which would
probably have worked if the ring were gold, but it was platinum and
platinum can not be stretched. The result? Stretch marks
running around the entire circumference of the ring due to metal stress.
Now our jewelers know not to stretch platinum, but apparently this local
"platinum expert" did not and it cost the customer the price of a new
ring... The old ring was taken in at scrap and is still sitting in
a bucket at the bottom of our safe waiting until we have enough platinum
on hand to warrant a trip to the refinery where the scrap can be refined
into casting shot. The jeweler refused to be held accountable for
his lack of knowledge, don't be left holding the bag, let us work on our
stuff, okay?
Diamonds or gem stones set or dismounted
by any jeweler other than our own staff are not refundable for any
reason. The bench jewelers who we use to set our stones and
create our jewelry items are Master Jewelers, not apprentices. We
will not be responsible for the damage and mistakes that other jewelers
make. If you elect to allow another jeweler to work on a jewelry
item purchased from our company, the item becomes non-refundable for any
reason. We have repaired a lot of mistakes made by other jewelers
and we are happy to try and assist you in repairing / restoring your
jewelry item if you need our help... For instance, if you drop off
your platinum solitaire style engagement ring for sizing and the local
yee-haw uses white gold sizing stock because he doesn't happen to have platinum sizing
stock on-hand and you eventually notice a discoloration of sorts, we'll be
happy to fix that for you for a reasonable fee. So don't despair,
we're still here to help, we're just not going to pay for the mistakes of
your local jeweler.
Damaged diamonds or jewelry items are not refundable for any
reason. All items are carefully and thoroughly inspected
prior to shipment, including photo documentation. If by chance, the
diamond or jewelry item which we ship you arrives in damaged condition,
i.e. the Fed Ex truck ran over the package, please notify us immediately
upon receipt of the package so that we may file a claim with our insurance
company. Please note that if the package arrives looking as if it
has been run over that it would be best to insist that the delivery person
wait while you open the package to ensure that the contents are intact and
undamaged. If the diamond or jewelry item becomes damaged while in your
possession or while being set by your jeweler, etc. it is your
liability and not ours. We suggest that you file a claim with your insurance
company or hold the jeweler who did the work accountable for his actions
just as we are liable for ours.
We are not responsible for lost or stolen jewelry
items. This should go without saying, but we are not
responsible or liable for the diamond or jewelry item when it is in your
possession. Our liability for any item ends upon signed receipt of
the package by you or an agent or person accepting receipt of the package
on your behalf. Protecting you against loss after you receive the
package is what your insurance company is for, we recommend obtaining
insurance coverage for your purchase prior to receipt of the package and
will be happy to fax a copy of the sales receipt and our appraisal for the
item to your insurance agent prior to shipment upon request. Note
that if you instruct us to ship your package to an apartment building or
your work address that our insurance ends the moment that your "General
Agent" signs for the package and you are solely liable for the loss of
that package and contents if the package gets lost or is stolen after it
has been signed for by your General Agent... Therefore, we strongly
recommend that you instruct us to send the package for Station Hold at a
Fed Ex Station near you if you are not going to be present to sign for the
package yourself... We're trying to make a point here, we're making
it in print... We hope that you take our advice, Fed Ex Station Hold
is a wonderful delivery option for people on the go...
There will be a $250.00 charge if you do not return
the original diamond grading report in crisp condition. If we
issue the original diamond grading report with the diamond and you fail to
return that document to us along with the diamond, or you return the
document to us damaged, ripped, torn, crumpled, or covered with coffee
stains and raspberry jam, the amount of $250.00 will be deducted from the
amount of your refund. No exceptions. None at all... If
you waive the diamond grading report in the face of your local jeweler and
he tears it to pieces, you're out two hundred and fifty bucks because we
have to send the diamond back to the laboratory for verification and
re-issuance of the lab report and it costs money... Why?
Because we have to send the diamond back to the laboratory to be
re-graded in the event that the original diamond grading report is lost
which results in additional expenses for shipping and takes the diamond
out of market for several weeks.
Diamonds which have been inscribed with a custom message are
non-refundable. Diamonds which have been inscribed with only our Nice
Ice™, (Ideal)3™ or (H&A)2™ trademarks and the corresponding lab
report number or just the lab report number are not subject to this
clause. But if you ask us to inscribe a custom message like "In Love
& Bondage Forever!" on the girdle edge of a diamond, it's yours forever.
Any diamond graded as Flawless is simply
non-refundable. This specifically applies to diamonds which
have a clarity grade of "Flawless" not "Internally Flawless".
Because it is possible to reduce the clarity grade of a Flawless diamond
by improper handling of the diamond with metal tweezers, all sales of
diamonds graded as Flawless are final. If you want to see the
diamond prior to purchasing it, we recommend a visit.
Our 21 day inspection
period and refund policy applies to 99.9982% of the diamonds that we sell
including our Super Ideal Cut Diamonds like our Hearts
& Arrows, AGS Ideal Cut and GIA Excellent - Excellent Ideal Cut Diamonds... For you engineers the 0.0018% of the diamonds not covered by
our twenty one day inspection period would be things like a 5.00 carat, D,
Flawless, Hearts & Arrows Super Ideal Cut Diamond that is locked away
in our cutters collection overseas where it sits in a sealed box to
protect it from dust, changes in environment, etc. and anything else that
the cutter imagines might alter the clarity grade of his prized puppy...
Such a diamond would cost us $5K just to ship it in a circle just so you
could slobber on it and say you saw a diamond that was so rare that it had
to be transported by men in black tights armed with machine guns (loaded)
and driving a fully loaded, armored Hummer (black with tinted windows -
very cool)...
These type of diamonds are typically purchased by investors and private
collectors who understand that these diamonds sell "off paper"
and only move from one location to another after the "escrow" is
complete and even then the new owner usually stores the diamond in it's
sealed container until the diamond is sold again. Understand Kemosabe? :-)
In the event that a diamond purchase is not covered under the terms and
conditions set forth above, you will be advised in writing prior to
purchasing the diamond...
Any extensions or exceptions made with regards to the terms and conditions
of our inspection and return policy set forth herein must be made in
writing to be considered valid and binding. Verbal claims of
extensions of time or exceptions to the conditions of this policy will not
be considered valid.
For The Protection Of Everybody:
-
All diamonds regardless of lab grading are
individually appraised, weighed, plotted, measured precisely using
laser technology and photographed internally by our
professional diamond graders prior to being shipped. Refunds
and/or exchanges are subject to verification and diamonds received for
return must match our records exactly.
-
We guarantee the quality of our workmanship and
materials for a period of one year from date of purchase. We are
not responsible for intentional or accidental damage inflicted to
diamonds and/or jewelry items as the result of wear or
neglect. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of
the items at our sole discretion. We strongly recommend that
you obtain proper insurance for your jewelry items.
-
Upon receipt of your order, examine the package
thoroughly to ensure that the security of your package has not been
violated BEFORE signing for the package. If you suspect that your package has been tampered
with REFUSE DELIVERY and call us immediately at the numbers
listed below. We ship our diamonds inside of a brown cardboard
security box which is placed inside of a standard Fed Ex or UPS priority
package, thus if the outside box is damaged or destroyed in-transit the
integrity of the package and contents is maintained by the inner box...
So don't freak out if the package arrives and the outside box looks as
if it has gone through a war, just open the outer box in front of the
delivery person and make sure that the inner box is intact. We
recommend saving the inner brown security box in-case you need to send
the diamond back to us for a refund because it is more than the standard
boxes available from Fed Ex or the Post Office. The box is not
required for a refund.
-
Before returning any merchandise for a refund or
exchange, you MUST obtain a Returned Merchandise Authorization Number
(RMA). This is only to ensure that you receive proper instructions
and assistance for insuring the package while it is in transit back to
us... Fed Ex and
UPS do NOT insure jewelry items no matter what the clerk at the
shipping counter may
tell you... We insure our packages through a third party
insurance company when sending via Fed Ex and UPS... To obtain an RMA Number, simply call our office
at the numbers listed below or email us at
diamonds@niceice.com and one will be
issued to you along with shipping and insurance instructions. If
you're wondering if we actually honor this return policy, visit The
Public Eye and you'll find a couple of letters from people who
loved the diamond but experienced technical difficulties with their
fembots... Drop them a line via email if you have any doubts that they
received a refund... Most of them have already purchased another
diamond from us after replacing their fembot with one that is loaded
with "the new and improved
attitude."
May we help you find the diamond of your dreams?
Send us an email diamonds@niceice.com
and tell us what you are looking for.
